Asbestos Awareness Training
Asbestos Awareness Training is a mandatory requirement for anyone liable to be exposed to Asbestos. This certified course is designed to satisfy The Control of Asbestos 2006 Regulations and the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive.
In accordance with Regulation 10, our training course covers the following mandatory issues:-
- The properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including its interaction with smoking,
- The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos,
- The operations which could result in asbestos exposure and the importance of preventive controls to minimise exposure,
- Safe work practices, control measures, and protective equipment,
- The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment,
- Emergency procedures,
- Hygiene requirements,
- Decontamination procedures,
- Waste handling procedures,
- Medical examination requirements, and
- The control limit and the need for air monitoring,
The training time to cover the syllabus must be at least three hours and is typically covered in half a day. Upon completion of the course, a certificate valid for 12 months will be issued to delegates, in line with HSE guidance.
